- 1950 - 1960
Karl Heß founds the company and lays the foundations for today's headquarters in Burbach-Wahlbach. The company celebrates its first successes with the production of plastic containers for the Georg coffee roasting company and technical injection moulded parts for antenna construction. With the start of series production of spin dryers, Robert Thomas becomes a long-standing customer for plastic parts for household goods. - 1965 - 1985
A large number of customers within a radius of approx. 100 km can be acquired with a wide variety of applications for technical plastic components. The company continues to grow with the introduction of its own mould making department. When Karl Eduard Hess joins the company, it is renamed Karl Hess GmbH & Co KG. The production of beverage crates for Schöller sets standards in the mass production business. New production halls are built at the current site in Burbach-Wahlbach. - 1990 - 2000
Oliver Heß and Stefan Ginsberg take over the management as the 3rd generation and venture into the automotive industry. The expansion of production capacity and the introduction of the ISO 9001 management system pave the way for further growth.
- 2000 - 2010
Karl Hess GmbH & Co KG establishes itself as a 1st tier supplier in the automotive sector and continues to grow. With the takeover of Gräb Kunststofftechnik in Neunkirchen, the company creates a second production site and significantly expands its production area. - 2010 - 2024
The company focuses on environmental and social responsibility and introduces the ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 environmental and energy management systems. With the sale to the PVL Group in 2015, HESS becomes part of a global network and opens up new technologies and markets. Stefan Ginsberg leaves the company in 2017, Oliver Heß in 2023. Dr Reinhard Pfendtner takes the helm as sole Managing Director in the summer. - Since 2024
Following a management buy-out by Dr Reinhard Pfendtner, the company becomes independent and owner-managed again. In addition to the existing sites in Burbach and Neunkirchen, a further plant is added in Pilsen, thus internationalising Karl Hess GmbH & Co. The new focus is now on becoming a technology partner for the automotive and industrial sectors. The brand is repositioned to provide the right framework for this dawning of a new era. HESS plastics is born. HESS stands for the stable foundation based on the family tradition founded by Karl Hess, on which the company has built its long-standing customer relationships. However, the letters of the family name are given a new meaning that clearly emphasises the company's future orientation:
